Since August 13, at least 52 people have been shot in New York City, which represents a 220 percent increase in this type of crime compared to what occurred during the same time period last year.
Over the past month, shooting incidents are up nearly 200 percent overall in the Big Apple, a direct consequence of government officials letting people out of prison due to the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) and activists continuing to “protest” for the police to be defunded.
Within a timeframe of just 72 hours, dozens of people in and around NYC were met with gun violence amid ongoing unrest over George Floyd coupled with the continued fallout of the city being shut down due to the plandemic which has made it ripe for the picking by criminals.
The New York Police Department (NYPD) published its weekly CompStat Unit, a document covering crimes committed during the week of July 13-19, and the situation is much the same: shootings are up big time, as are the number of people being injured due to violent crime.
According to the report, the most pronounced surge in new shooting incidents took place that same week ending on July 19, during which 64 shooting incidents occurred, resulting in 77 shooting victims. This is compared to 20 shooting incidents and 25 shooting victims during the same time period in 2019.
President Donald Trump, responding to the news, tweeted that if Mayor Bill de Blasio is unable to maintain law and order in NYC moving forward, then the Feds will be sent in by his administration to do it themselves, similar to what they are currently doing in Portland.

Besides everything going on with Black Lives Matter (BLM) and Antifa that is contributing to this crime surge, the NYPD is also blaming bail reforms that were put into place last year that let criminals stay out of jail even after they have been arrested multiple times.
“We have over 1,000 people that have been indicted on a gun possession charge, where the cases are open, and they are walking around the streets of New York today,” Michael LiPetri, NYPD’s chief of crime control strategies, is quoted as saying back in June about the current shape of one of the world’s most popular cities.
Mayor de Blasio also recently slashed the NYPD’s budget by a whopping $1 billion, blaming a budget shortfall supposedly caused by the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdowns. Others are now pushing to completely defund the NYPD, which would be the final nail in the city’s coffin.
Many of the city’s other vital services are also being cut, which is leaving local businesses and residents completely defenseless in the face of rising crime. Perhaps this is why President Trump decided to move his personal residence out of NYC and down to Florida.
Alt-news outlets have attempted to reach Mayor de Blasio’s office for comment about the situation, but have not heard back at this point in time. In the meantime, the great exodus out of NYC continues as residents and business owners can clearly see the writing on the wall.
“Defund the police isn’t working, especially when criminals get a free pass and law-abiding citizens are treated like trash,” wrote one commenter at The Epoch Times. “Good luck, New York. You’re getting what you voted for.”
“NYC gov doesn’t care about the decent law-abiding, hard-working citizens,” wrote another. “They’re all on board with the ‘agenda’ to descend us into chaos. I see no heart in these creatures.”
