A tank gunner from an armored unit of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has revealed that they received orders to fire indiscriminately in the Holit kibbutz (community) on Oct. 7.
The firsthand testimony came from a 20-year-old captain of an all-female tank company named “Karni.” She told N12 News that a “panicked” soldier ordered her unit to open fire on homes in the kibbutz – regardless if the homes contained civilians or not.
“The soldier points and tells me, ‘Shoot there; the terrorists are there,” said Karni. When she asked if there are civilians inside the house, the soldier simply replied “I don’t know” and ordered her to “just shoot” a tank round into the buildings.
Karni eventually “decided not to shoot” as they were targeting an Israeli community. “I fired with my machine gun at a house,” she continued. Ten Israelis were killed in Holit on Oct. 7, but no children were among the casualties.
She also disclosed to N12 News that her tank company also killed alleged Palestinians by running them over with their armored vehicle. “My driver spots two terrorists on the road and reports it,” she recounted. “[When] I tell her to run them over, she simply runs over the terrorists and moves on.”
IDF Brig. Gen. Raviv Mahmia acknowledged that dealing with a group of militants in Holit was a “very complex” task for Karni and her unit. He also noted that the young tankers were “in many ways … not trained to fight.”
“They fired in Israeli communities, driving on plain roads,” said Mahmia. Karni’s tank company seems to have been trained on the least advanced vehicles in Israel’s arsenal and given only border defense duties. But following the Oct. 7 Hamas attack, they were forced into more modern vehicles equipped with a remote-controlled weapons system.
In a separate Nov. 26 report, the Grayzone cited eyewitness testimony that recounted how an Israeli tank opened fire on a home in the Be’eri kibbutz on Oct. 7. The attack killed 12 Israeli civilians, including 12-year-old Liel Hetzroni. The girl was later used by Israel as a poster child for its international propaganda campaign against Hamas. The Israeli daily newspaper Haaretz also attested in a Nov. 18 report that Israeli attack helicopters possibly killed several attendees of the Nova electronic music festival, held near the Re’im kibbutz. It added that Hamas had no idea that the the festival was taking place at the time.
Meanwhile, an IDF pilot disclosed that Tel Aviv may have initiated the Hannibal Protocol during Hamas’ surprise attack. IDF Lt. Col. Nof Erez told Haaretz in an interview that it was probable that Israeli forces reacting to the attack might have carried out the directive. Under the protocol, Israeli forces are to use massive firepower to prevent any soldier from being abducted – in essence, “no survivors.”
The latest revelations amplify the growing proof suggesting several Israelis who died on Oct. 7 were killed by the Israeli military. These also run contrary to the propaganda churned out by Tel Aviv and its allies, which point the finger at Hamas for various atrocities.
